Volunteering at the CCIJ is a way to meet new friends, learn new skills or put your existing skills into good use, be part of the international justice community that has a positive impact locally and globally.
Candidates to our volunteer positions must complete an orientation to our organization prior to collaborating with us. Upon successfull completion of a term, our volunteers may ask us for a reference.
The CCIJ is recruiting committed volunteers for :
1. Web designer in Toronto
One of CCIJ's clients is writing a book about her experiences and she is interested in creating a website to accompany the book when it is published. CCIJ is seeking a web designer who can work pro bono to help our client design and launch her website.
Hours are flexible and you may work from your home or office with occasional meetings with the client.

Duration: Likely will involve design work in the short term and launch of the site at a later date when the book is published.

2. Working Group Members and Chairs in Quebec City, Edmonton, Halifax, Prince George and Winnipeg
The CCIJ is looking for volunteers for its Working Groups - a central role in the organization – in Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax, as well as persons who would like to start a Working Group in their own region. Specific roles within the group vary according to interest, but involve planning and delivering activities related to international justice and its application in Canada. These may include public events such as film screenings and art exhibits, information sessions for settlement agencies, outreach to communities affected by atrocities, intake for potential cases, research projects, and much more.
Working Groups and Communications are part-time volunteer positions for about 5-10 hours per month.
Qualifications:
Requirements: Demonstrated strong interest in international justice; excellent interpersonal skills, including in multi-cultural environments; strong oral and written communication skills; enthusiasm for planning and the will to follow through.
Assets: Proficiency in a second or third language; affiliation with a community affected by issues of international justice; not-for-profit experience.
Terms:
Location: Working Groups - cities across Canada including Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax. Interest in initiating a CCIJ presence in additional cities and regions is also welcome. Communications Committee members may be based anywhere in Canada, participating in meetings by conference call.
Commitment Level: These are part-time volunteer positions for approx. 5 hours per month.
Contract term: One year, renewable.

3. Toronto Working Group – Volunteer Graphic Designer
The Toronto Working Group of the CCIJ is presently seeking a designer to work on our e-newsletter, blog and various collateral materials.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Communications Coordinators of the Toronto Working Group to design compelling and creative materials for print and online projects to effectively promote the organization.
Qualifications
The ability to use your design skills to create visually appealing communications materials in line with CCIJ graphic standards.
The ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
Experience with Mail Chimp (or equivalent program), Wordpress and Quark XPress or InDesign required. Knowledge of PhotoShop or Illustrator is an additional asset.
Project management skills, the ability to meet deadlines and attention to detail are desirable.
A degree in graphic design, advertising or a similar discipline is preferred.
Some professional experience is a benefit.
Hours are flexible and you may work from your home or office.
